That Clean Life alternative: NutriCRM vs That Clean Life
That Clean Life is a meal-planning tool with a large recipe library. NutriCRM is a practice platform: leads, client records, follow-ups, payments and a branded client app, with a diet plan builder inside. They solve different problems, and plenty of practices only need one of them.

The short answer
Pick That Clean Life if meal plans are the product you deliver and you already run your practice in another tool: it has 8,000+ recipes, 150+ condition templates and can generate plans from calorie, macro and diet-type targets. Pick NutriCRM if you need one place to run the whole practice, from first enquiry to payment, with your own branded client app. That Clean Life has no CRM, scheduling, payments or mobile app; NutriCRM has a smaller recipe library and does not generate meal plans automatically.

Two different kinds of tool
That Clean Life describes itself as nutrition planning software. Everything in it serves one job: building meal plans and recipes and getting them to clients. It does that job in depth. There are more than 8,000 recipes developed and photographed by its own team, over 100 ways to filter them, and templates for specific conditions and goals.
NutriCRM is built around the client relationship. A client starts as an enquiry in the lead pipeline, becomes a client record with health history, gets a diet plan from the 7-day meal grid, logs progress in a branded app, and pays through a tracked subscription. The diet planner is one part of that, not the whole product.
So the honest framing is not "which is better" but "which problem do you have". If your pain is building plans fast, That Clean Life is strong. If your pain is everything around the plans, that is what NutriCRM is for.
Meal planning: where That Clean Life is stronger
On the Plus plan, That Clean Life can generate a meal plan from calorie, macro and diet-type targets, then let you swap recipes and edit. Grocery lists are built automatically from the plan. NutriCRM does not generate plans for you. You build the week in a meal grid from foods, recipes and your own templates, and nutrition is calculated as you go.
The recipe library is also much larger in That Clean Life, and its templates cover conditions NutriCRM does not ship templates for. If you would otherwise spend hours writing recipes, that library is the main reason to choose it.
- That Clean Life Plus tracks 27 nutrients per plan; Starter tracks 14.
- NutriCRM calculates calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre per meal.
- Both let you add your own recipes with nutrition calculated automatically.
Running the practice: where NutriCRM is stronger
That Clean Life has no lead tracking, scheduling, payments, invoices or client messaging, and its own documentation points practitioners to practice management software such as Practice Better for those. That is a reasonable design choice, but it means you pay for and maintain two tools.
NutriCRM covers that ground in one place: a lead pipeline from new enquiry to converted client, follow-up tracking on a client timeline, session reminders with Google Calendar and Zoom, subscriptions with payment status, invoices, and in-app chat with clients.
How clients receive their plans
That Clean Life shares plans through a secure link that opens an interactive, mobile-friendly web view, or as branded PDFs with theme options. Its help centre confirms it is web-based and has no mobile app.
NutriCRM delivers plans to a client mobile app. On higher plans, that app is published in the App Store and Play Store under your clinic name and logo, so clients download your app rather than a third-party one. Clients can also log vitals and message you there.
Teams and clinics
That Clean Life has no team or company plans; each practitioner needs a separate account, and sharing between colleagues happens through its share feature. NutriCRM is built for multi-dietitian setups, with custom roles, permissions and team-scoped access to client data.
Pricing
That Clean Life publishes its prices in USD. Starter is $30 a month, billed monthly, and includes 10 shares. Plus is $60 a month, or $35 a month billed yearly at $420, with unlimited shares, PDF exports, advanced templates and filters, and automation. Neither plan charges per client. There is no free trial; the monthly plans are the suggested way to try it, and you can cancel from your subscription settings.
NutriCRM pricing depends on your client volume and team size and is shared on a short demo. There is a 7-day free trial with no card required.
Switching from That Clean Life to NutriCRM
Many practices do not need to switch away from That Clean Life at all. If you use it alongside another practice tool, the real question is whether NutriCRM can replace that other tool, and whether its own diet planner is enough for the way you build plans.
If you do move your planning into NutriCRM, there is no automated import from That Clean Life. Export the plans and recipes you rely on as PDFs while your subscription is active, then recreate your core templates in NutriCRM. Start new clients in NutriCRM and let existing clients finish their current plan before moving them.
Frequently asked questions
Can registered dietitians use That Clean Life to generate personalised meal plans filtered by dietary preferences, health conditions and nutrition targets?
Yes, with some nuance. That Clean Life filters recipes by diet type, ingredients, allergens, time and nutrition targets, and on the Plus plan it can generate a plan from calorie, macro and diet-type targets. Health conditions are handled mainly through its 150+ templates, such as low FODMAP, heart health or GERD, which you then personalise. The dietitian still reviews and adjusts the plan.
Is NutriCRM a That Clean Life alternative?
Partly. NutriCRM includes a diet plan builder, food database and recipe library, so it can replace That Clean Life for practitioners who build plans themselves. It does not generate plans automatically and its recipe library is smaller. Its main value is the practice management around the plans, which That Clean Life does not offer.
Does That Clean Life have a mobile app?
No. According to its help centre it is web-based and optimised for mobile browsers. Clients open plans through a shared link or receive a PDF. NutriCRM delivers plans to a client mobile app, which can carry your own brand on higher plans.
Can I use That Clean Life and NutriCRM together?
There is no integration between them, so you would export plans from That Clean Life as PDFs. Practices that want an integrated pairing with That Clean Life usually use Practice Better, which has a built-in That Clean Life integration.
Does That Clean Life have a free trial?
No. Its pricing page says the monthly plans, $30 or $60 USD, are the way to try it without a long-term commitment. NutriCRM has a 7-day free trial with no card.
