- Start by soaking the poppy seeds in water for about 30 minutes. This softens them and makes them easier to grind.
- Drain the soaked poppy seeds and transfer them to a blender or food processor.
- Add the chopped green chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt to the poppy seeds.
- Grind the mixture into a coarse paste without adding any water. The natural moisture in the soaked poppy seeds should be enough to help with the grinding.
- Transfer the ground mixture to a bowl and mix it thoroughly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Wet your hands and take a small portion of the poppy seed mixture. Shape it into a small round patty or ball. You can use a little oil on your hands to prevent sticking.
- Carefully slide the poppy seed patty into the hot oil.
- Fry the Postor Bora until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides, which should take about 2-3 minutes per side. Make sure the oil is not too hot, as poppy seeds can turn bitter if overcooked.
- Remove the fried Postor Boras and place them on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
- Serve them hot with a cup of tea or your favorite chutney.
- Enjoy these delicious Postor Boras, a delightful Bengali snack that's rich in flavor and texture!
