- Remove the outer reddish petals and collect the light, fleshy inner part. Finely chop the banana blossom.
- Boil the chopped banana blossom in water with a pinch of turmeric for about 10-15 minutes or until it's soft. Drain and set aside.
- Heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
- Add chopped onions and green chillies. Sauté until the onions become translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add the boiled and mashed potatoes, chopped banana blossom, and the spices (cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric, and salt).
- Mix well and sauté for a few minutes.
- Let the mixture cool down. Then, shape it into small, round patties or any shape you prefer.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll each chop in breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes, ensuring an even coating.
- Place the chops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased with cooking spray.
- Lightly spray the tops of the chops with cooking spray or brush them with a small amount of oil to help them brown in the oven.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crisp, flipping halfway through.
- Once they are baked to your liking, remove them from the oven and serve the healthier Mochar Chops with chutney or sauce of your choice.
- Note- This version reduces the use of oil and avoids deep-frying, making it a healthier alternative to traditional Mochar Chops. Enjoy these delicious snacks with a guilt-free twist.
