- This recipewill make 5-6 servings of Goan Fish Curry
- Wash the fish steaks thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels. Sprinkle a little salt and turmeric powder on both sides of the fish steaks. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Add mustard seeds and cinnamon. Let the mustard seeds splutter.
- Add finely chopped onion to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add ginger garlic paste to the pan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add finely chopped tomatoes. Cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Add chili powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder to the pan. Mix well and cook for another 1-2 minutes to roast the spices.
- Pour in the coconut milk and stir well to combine with the spice mixture.
- Bring the curry to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Carefully add the marinated fish steaks to the simmering curry. Spoon some of the curry sauce over the fish steaks.
- Cover the pan and cook on medium-low heat for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish steaks are cooked through and flake easily with a fork. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the fish steaks.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice .
