- Prepare the Gatte:
- In a bowl, mix besan, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, carom seeds, salt, and oil.
- Gradually add water to form a firm dough.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into cylindrical shapes.
- Boil water in a pan and cook the gatte rolls until they float on the surface. Remove and cut into small pieces.
- Prepare the Gravy:
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Stir well.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.
- Add water to the mixture and bring it to a boil.
- Combine:
- Add the gatte pieces to the gravy and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with roti or rice.
